Aia Sofia Coverley Turan
Aia Sofia Coverley Turan (b. 1994) is a Danish sculptor and artist based in Copenhagen. She trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has also studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia, Italy. Turan’s work encompasses sculpture, relief, and drawing, often employing materials such as bronze, plaster, textiles, and copper. Her artistic practice explores themes of cultural identity, origin, language, and memory, with a particular focus on the tensions between the individual and society, between speech and silence, and between home and a diasporic condition.
She is represented in collections such as the Danish Arts Foundation and the Copenhagen Municipality Collection. Her works reflect a subtle dialogue between personal and collective narratives, unfolding through the tactile and narrative qualities of the materials she employs.
