Cecilie Skov
About
Cecilie Skov (born 1988) is a Danish visual artist who graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London (BA Art Practice, 2012) and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (MFA, Sculpture School, 2016).
Skov’s practice is shaped by a cyclical and feminist perspective and manifests itself in the form of site-specific sculptures, installations and publications. She often creates contextual relationships between works and the surrounding architecture or landscape.
Through casting, recasting and collecting, she circulates and juxtaposes motifs, components and words from different hierarchies, which together form new horizontal relationships. She dissolves formal language in a material-sensitive and spatially poetic practice. She is inspired by reading, and recently the pages of books and fleeting notes have taken over the very form of her works and their titles.
Skov has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has received recognition such as awards from Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen (2020) and Niels Wessel Bagge (2023).
