Yvette Brackman

Yvette Brackman (born in 1967 in New York, USA) is a Danish-American artist based in Copenhagen. Working across media such as sculpture, installation, video, and performance, she explores how memory, migration, and exile shape personal and collective identity. Her artistic practice often reflects on cultural adaptation and the ways in which histories of displacement continue to influence contemporary life.

Brackman holds degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including the Moscow and Liverpool Biennials. Her works are represented in several public collections, among them the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK).

Hendes praksis spænder over flere medier, blandt andet skulptur, installation, video og performance. I sine værker undersøger hun, hvordan erindring, migration, eksil og kulturel tilpasning former menneskers identitet og livsvilkår.

Brackman er uddannet fra School of the Art Institute of Chicago og University of Illinois at Chicago. Hun har desuden undervist på Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi. Gennem årene har hun deltaget i en række internationale udstillinger, blandt andet ved biennalerne i Moskva og Liverpool, og hendes værker indgår i samlinger på blandt andet Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK).
